Over 100 children and parents gathered at the picturesque “Sinyata voda” complex near Kalekovets village for a day of exploration, learning, and inspiration. Organized by the renowned “Milara” radio club, in collaboration with local schools and experts, the event aimed to ignite curiosity and passion for science, technology, and innovation among young minds.
The event featured a unique blend of activities, combining a delightful picnic atmosphere with captivating demonstrations on making radio connections across the globe. Hosted by Krasimir Petkov, owner of “Milara International” and a prominent figure in the world of Shortwave sports, attendees were treated to firsthand accounts of Petkov’s journey from a childhood hobbyist to a successful entrepreneur, all rooted in his love for radio amateurs.
“I owe much of my success to my early fascination with radio,” shared Petkov, known in enthusiast circles as K1LZ. “It’s what sparked my passion for innovation and led me on a path from hobby to business, ultimately realizing the ‘American dream’.”
The event also marked a significant announcement from the “Radioclub Milara” – LZ1KFM / LZ5R, which will now offer free educational programs on radio amateurs, electronics, robotics, and more at their base in Kalekovets village. Looking ahead, plans are underway to expand the club’s facilities to include a swimming pool, tennis courts, and an equestrian facility, with the aim of hosting free camps for children during the summer months.
“We are proud to be part of the Thrace Economic Zone and to collaborate with visionaries like Krasimir Petkov and Vasil Bazelkov,” remarked Katya Staykova, director of the “Thrace Economic Zone” association. “Their dedication to merging business and education is not only commendable but essential for shaping the innovators of tomorrow.”
